How to find your style
Chose 3-7 colors and only buy clothes in those colors
It might seem like you're limiting yourself but most people only wear 3-7
colors without realizing anyway. This makes it so that when you come to
make an outfit all the pieces of clothing you own suit each other because
they're all in this one palette. You don't have to make your whole wardrobe
just these colors, just make sure they make up at least 70% of your wardrobe.
For example, my colors are:
Black because I love wearing black
White for contrast
Brown/Beige because it goes well with everything
Pink because I like pink and it looks good on me
Green because my skin undertone is olive so green looks good on me
Don't buy something just because it looks pretty
A piece of clothing being pretty is just the first step. Before buying something,
you should ask yourself these questions:
Is it pretty/do I like it?
Will I wear it/what occasions am I going to wear it for?
Does it go well with other things in my closet?
Does it look good on me and make me feel good?
Don't get caught up in the aesthetic
Your own, never seen before style will not have the ability to be
categorized in an aesthetic because its unique to you. Don't try to be
dark/light academia or y2k or coquette or baddie or vanilla girl or whatever,
try to be you.
Be confident in your style
Do not shy away from wearing what you like because it's different. When people
see you wearing what you like, they'll think you're cool even if it's not something
they like because the simple fact that you don't care about others makes you mesmerizing.
Be patient
Finding your own style will take some time so take things slow and do not rush.
Over time, you'll notice a pattern in the clothes you wear and your style will start to show.
Shopping for new clothes will be easier and you'll be much more confident in what you wear.
